Services Offered
Dr. Dinsmoor provides individual therapy, couples therapy, and neurofeedback for adolescents and adults in Arlington and at Family Compass in Reston. He works with a wide range of concerns, including OCD, anxiety, neurodivergence, attention deficit disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and relationship issues.
Individual Therapy
Dr. Dinsmoor provides individual therapy for adolescents and adults experiencing a range of emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric concerns. He draws from established therapeutic approaches and tailors treatment to each patient.
He has a particular interest in OCD and uses Inferential Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), an evidence-based approach that offers an alternative to traditional Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). He also works with neurodivergent adolescents and adults, taking into account the ways neurodivergence can shape how individuals experience themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.
Couples Therapy
With advanced training in family therapy, Dr. Dinsmoor brings a relationship-focused perspective to couples therapy. He helps couples better understand patterns that may be contributing to conflict, improve communication, and develop more effective ways of relating to one another.
Neurofeedback
Dr. Dinsmoor has incorporated neurofeedback into his clinical practice for more than 20 years. Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that provides information about brain activity and can help individuals develop greater awareness and regulation.
Neurofeedback may be used on its own or incorporated into psychotherapy when appropriate. Dr. Dinsmoor often combines neurofeedback with traditional therapeutic approaches, particularly when patients have not found success through other methods.
